How to use Workshop's POS feature

Learn how to use the Point of Sale POS feature for quick transactions. This article covers walk-in customers, building invoices for stock or services, and recording payments through various methods.

Updated over a week ago

The Workshop POS feature is designed for speed and simplicity. It is the perfect tool for handling walk-in customers, managing sales during busy periods, or quickly selling individual products and services without the need to create a full workshop job.

Key Features

  • Speed: Designed for a search, click, and pay workflow.

  • Standalone Sales: Processes transactions independently of workshop jobs.

  • Flexible Customer Linking: Use the Walk-in Customer option for anonymous, lightning-fast sales. You can also easily link an Existing Customer or create a New Customer profile directly from the POS screen.

How it works

1. Building the sale

The POS interface allows you to build an invoice in real-time. Use the search bar to quickly find Products (such as inner tubes or sealants) or Services (such as a quick gear tune or fitting).

  • Categories: Use the category buttons (for example, Labour, Fittings, Service Packages) to filter your stock list instantly.

  • Manual Adjustments: You can edit quantities, apply discounts, or adjust VAT directly on the draft invoice before proceeding.

2. Recording payment

Once the order is ready, click Proceed to Payment to open the payment gateway. Workshop supports multiple recording methods to keep your books accurate:

  • Cash or Card

  • BACS (Bank Transfer)

  • Layaway (for items being held)

  • Other (for custom payment types)

3. Finalising

Review the total, select the payment method, and hit Confirm. The sale is recorded, and you are ready for the next customer.
