How To Add A Service Category

Updated over 3 weeks ago

This guide provides a detailed explanation of how to create and manage service categories within your Workshop by bikebook system. Service categories help you organise your offerings, making it easier for both your team and your customers to understand the types of services you provide.

  1. Navigate to the Services Section:

    • Locate the main navigation menu on the left-hand side of your Workshop by bikebook interface.

    • Click on "SERVICES". This action will take you to the central hub for managing all your workshop's service offerings.

  2. Manage Existing Categories:

    • Upon entering the "SERVICES" section, you will likely see a list of pre-existing service categories.

    • To change the name of a pre-selected category: Click directly on the name of the category you wish to modify. This will typically allow you to edit the text. Type in the new name you want for the category and ensure you save your changes (there will usually be a "Save" button or similar).

    • To enable or disable a category: Next to each category name, you should find an option to control its visibility or active status. This might be a toggle switch or a checkbox labeled "Enabled." Click or toggle this option to either enable (make visible and usable) or disable (hide and prevent from being used) the category.

  3. Create a New Service Category:

    • Look for a button labeled "New Category". This is typically located in the top right corner of the "Categories" page within the "SERVICES" section.

    • Click on the "New Category" button.

    • A modal window or a new field will appear, prompting you to enter the name for your new service category.

    • Type in the desired name for your category (e.g., "Accessory Fitting," "Suspension Overhaul," "Custom Builds").

    • Once you have entered the name, click on the "Save" button or a similar confirmation to create the new category. Your newly created category will now appear in your list of service categories.

  4. Assign Services to Categories:

    • After setting up your service categories, navigate to the "All Services" section within the "SERVICES" menu. This area lists all the individual services you have configured.

    • For each service you want to categorise, you will typically find an option to select or assign it to a specific category (this might be a dropdown menu or a field labeled "Category").

    • For example, if you have created a category called "Electric Bike Services," you can then find your "Bronze Electric Bike Service package" in the "All Services" list and assign it to the "Electric Bike Services" category using the provided selection method.

    • Ensure you save the changes made to each service after assigning it to the appropriate category.

By following these steps, you can effectively organize your workshop's services into logical categories, making it easier for your team to create accurate job cards and for your customers to understand the range of services you offer. Remember to regularly review and update your service categories as your business evolves.
