How to Add a Service

This guide covers adding services to your Workshop by Bikebook system and assigning them to your service categories. Services are the building blocks of your online booking widget and job report cards, so it's worth taking the time to set them up properly.

You can add services one at a time, or import several at once using a spreadsheet - this guide covers both methods.

Before you start: Make sure you've already set up your service categories (see the How to Add a Service Category guide). You'll need these to organise your services logically.

Method 1: Adding a Single Service

Use this method when you're adding or editing services one at a time.

Navigate to Services

  1. In the left-hand navigation menu, click SERVICES.

  2. Click All Services to see a list of every service currently set up in your system.

Edit a pre-set service (optional)

Workshop comes with some pre-set services you can adapt to your needs:

  1. Click on a pre-set service name to open its details.

  2. Update the following fields as needed:

    • Name – e.g. "Standard Bike Check" or "Gear Adjustment"

    • Price

    • Time – estimated duration

    • Description – what the service includes, visible on job report cards and to customers

  3. Click Save to apply your changes.

Create a new service

  1. On the All Services page, click New Service (top right-hand corner).

  2. Fill in the details:

    • Name – a clear, concise service name

    • Category – assign it to one of your existing service categories (e.g. "Bronze Electric Bike Service Package" → "Electric Bike Services")

    • Price

    • Time – estimated duration

    • Description – detail on the work involved

    • What's Included (if available) – a breakdown of components or steps included

  3. Click Save to add the service.

Tip: The more detail you add to each service, the clearer your job report cards will be for both mechanics and customers.

Method 2: Bulk Importing Services from a Spreadsheet

If you have a lot of services to add — or you're setting up your account for the first time — it's faster to import them all at once using a spreadsheet.

Step 1: Download the template

  1. In the left-hand navigation menu, click SERVICES.

  2. Click All Services.

  3. Click Actions (top right-hand corner of the page).

  4. Select Export Services.

Step 2: Fill in your services

Add one row per service. Here's what each column means:

Column

What to enter

Name

The service name, as it will appear to your team and customers

Description

Details of what the service includes — this shows on job report cards

Category

The service category this belongs to (must match a category you've already created)

Service Type

The service type this belongs to

PricingType

How the service is priced (e.g. a set price)

Price

The price of the service

Duration (Minutes)

Estimated time to complete the service, in minutes

Visibility

Who can see this service (e.g. internal team only, or customers too)

Step 3: Import the spreadsheet

  1. In the left-hand navigation menu, click SERVICES.

  2. Click All Services.

  3. Click Actions (top right-hand corner of the page).

  4. Select Import Services.

  5. Upload your completed spreadsheet and follow the on-screen prompts.

Once imported, your services will appear in the All Services list, ready to assign to job report cards.

By following these steps, you can build a comprehensive list of services in your Workshop by Bikebook account — whether one at a time or all in one go — ready to add to jobs and use when creating job report cards for your customers' repairs and maintenance.
