How To Configure My Services

Updated over a month ago

This guide will walk you through the process of setting up and organizing the services you offer in your Workshop by bikebook system. This involves creating service categories and then adding individual services within those categories.

Steps:

  1. Navigate to the Services Section: On the left-hand menu of your Workshop by bikebook system, locate and click on "Services." This will take you to the main services management area.

  2. Define Service Categories:

    • Within the "Services" section, click on "Categories." This will allow you to create and manage the different categories of services you offer.

    • Click on the button to add a new category (labeled + New Category).

    • Enter the name for your service category (e.g., "General Repairs," "Service Packages," "Electric Bike Services," "Wheel Services").

    • Save the category.

    • Repeat this process for all the distinct categories of services you wish to display to your customers and use internally.

  3. Configure Individual Services:

    • Once you have set up your categories, navigate back to the main "Services" section (as in Step 1).

    • Click on the button to add a new service (this might be labeled "Add Service," "+ New Service," or similar).

    • A form will appear where you can configure the details of the service. This typically includes the following fields:

      • Name: Enter a clear and descriptive name for the service (e.g., "Basic Service," "Standard Tune-up," "E-Bike Software Update," "Wheel Truing").

      • Category: Select the appropriate category you created in the previous step from the dropdown menu (e.g., "Service Packages" for "Basic Service," "Electric Bike Services" for "Electric Basic Service").

      • Service Length: Specify the estimated duration of the service (e.g., "1 hour," "2.5 hours"). This can be helpful for scheduling.

      • Description: Provide a brief description of what the service entails. This can be displayed to customers and is useful for internal reference.

      • Price: Enter the price you charge for this service.

      • What's Included: Detail the specific components, tasks, or parts included in this service. This helps manage expectations and ensures clarity.

    • Save the service.

    • Repeat this process for all the individual services you offer, assigning each to the relevant category.

Important Notes:

  • Editable Details: Remember that the name, service length, description, price, and "what's included" for each service can be edited at any time. This allows you to keep your service offerings up-to-date.

  • Service Packages and Job Cards: The services you configure, especially those within "Service Packages" or similar categories, form the basis of your job cards. When creating a new job, you will likely select from these pre-configured services to build the work order for a customer's bike.
