This guide explains how to set up and organise your service offerings within the Workshop by bikebook system. By the end of this tutorial, you will have a structured menu of services ready for both customer bookings and internal job cards.
The process involves two main phases: creating categories for organisation and then populating those categories with specific services.
Phase 1: Define Service Categories
Categories act as folders to keep your service menu tidy and easy to navigate.
Access the Services Section: Locate and click Services on the left hand menu of your dashboard.
Open Categories: Within this area, click the Categories tab.
Create a Category: Click the + New Category button.
Name Your Category: Type in a name that groups similar tasks together. Examples include:
General Repairs
Service Packages
Electric Bike Services
Wheel Services
Save: Confirm your entry. Repeat these steps until your full service structure is mapped out.
Phase 2: Configure Individual Services
Now that your folders are ready, you can add the specific tasks you perform.
Add New Service: Return to the main Services tab and click the + New Service button.
Fill in the Service Details: Complete the form using the following fields:
Field | Description | Example |
Name | A clear title for the work performed. | Standard Tune-up |
Category | Select the folder this service belongs to. | Service Packages |
Service Length | The estimated time required for scheduling. | 1.5 hours |
Description | A brief summary of the service. | Comprehensive safety check |
Price | The base cost for the service. | 60.00 |
Whats Included | A bulleted list of specific tasks or parts. | Brake bleed, gear index |
3. Save: Click save to finalise the service. Repeat this for every individual item you offer.
Change the order or visibility of your services
You can change the order of your services if you would prefer certain ones to appear at the top for your customers. To do this, go to All Services, open a service using the drop-down arrow, then drag your services around using the 6 dots on the very left of that service row.
You can also set the visibility on the right-hand side to be external and internal (customers can see and book it on the website, and it is visible on Workshop too), internal only, or disabled/hidden.
Key Considerations
Flexible Updates: You can return to these settings at any time to edit the name, price, or duration. Changes will apply to all future bookings.
Building Job Cards: The services you create here serve as the building blocks for your job cards. When you start a new repair, you will select these pre-configured services to quickly generate a professional work order for the customer.
